Stormzy is an English rapper born Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. He has released one mixtape, studio album, extended plays, and seven tracks. His studio album, ‘Gang Signs & Prayer,’ in February 2017, also emerged at number one here on UK Albums Chart, making it the first grime album to do so. He was named ‘Best Grime Act’ at the 2014 and 2015 MOBO Awards. Stormzy began as a road rapper, rapping in style more akin to hip hop than grime. He then began making YouTube videos, but it wasn’t until the rapper began posting the Wicked Skengman freestyle that he gained widespread attention. He eventually rose to prominence and entered the music industry. Stormzy has since emerged as one of the most influential artists to watch. “Shut Up,” a BPI platinum-selling track initially released on YouTube, is his most successful single. The song was then officially released and quickly rose to #8 on the UK Singles Chart. Stormzy is currently involved with UK presenter Maya Jama.
