We’re the Environmental Investigation Agency. We run undercover investigations into international wildlife crime, with a focus on elephants, pangolins and tigers. We also work to combat forest crimes such as illegal logging, protect our ocean and reduce climate change.
This Christmas, we’re asking for your help to tackle the throwaway plastic crisis. Eight million tonnes of plastic leak into the ocean each year, and without action, this figure is likely to quadruple by 2050. This rising tide of plastic pollution is having a devastating effect on much-loved species like whales, dolphins, and seabirds.
Accidentally eating plastic is now a common problem for many marine species, and animals swimming underwater can also get tangled up in plastic litter and fishing gear. Tragically, over 800 species are known to have been affected, with hundreds of thousands of animals dying every year.
There has been a surge of public support for change on this issue, giving us a real opportunity to tackle this problem at source. Join us in demanding more action from governments and supermarkets to reduce the amount of plastic packaging arriving on shop shelves.
