American singer Little Richard, who is known as the being the architect of rock & roll music, passed away on Saturday 9 May at the age of 87. Puza Sarker Snigdha reports.
Richard had been fighting bone cancer when he ultimately passed on Saturday. He was in his Tennessee home in the presence of his brother, sister and son. Richard’s son Danny Penniman confirmed his death.
His agent Dick Alen has: “He was battling for a good while, many years. I last spoke to him about two or three weeks ago. I knew he wasn’t well but he never really got into it, he just would say ‘I’m not well.’”
Signing to Specialty Records in 1955, Little Richards first hit was ‘Tutti Frutti’ in 1956, followed by “Long Tall Sally” and “Rip It Up” t, “Lucille” in 1957, “Good Golly Miss Molly” and more. He sold more than 30 million records worldwide.
