Sequel to the 2012 “Student of The Year 2” is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language teen film directed by Punit Malhotra, in which the album has six songs with mostly Punjabi-Hinglish lyrics, has four club bangers and one re-created track.
“The Jawani Song” which is already a big hit, is a retro of Kishor Kumar’s old classic song “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”. Music director duo Vishal-Shekhar are a hoot here, but the song is weighed down by such lyrics as “We’re young and crazy/ Aaj ki raat honi amazin'”
“Mumbai Dilli Di Kudiyaan” is a fun Punjabi wedding dance song and perhaps one of the most colorful & elaborate wedding party songs seen on screen. Neha Kakkar’s voice adds a flirty feel of the upbeat track. Lyrics by Vayu are dedicated to the party girls of Mumbai & Delhi and are quite fun mixing Hindi and English liners to a Punjabi styling.
However, Vishal-Shekhar bring back the magic of ‘SOTY’ for this second instalment of the young and glamorous film franchise.
