Singer-Songwriter David Berman Dies at 52

American musician, singer, poet and cartoonist David Berman who is best known for his work with indie-rock band the Silver Jews have died on Wednesday at the age of 52.
Berman’s death news was confirmed by his record label, Drag City Records but the reason for his death is still not revealed.
“We couldn’t be more sorry to tell you this, David Berman passed away earlier today. A great friend and one of the most inspiring individuals we’ve ever known is gone. Rest easy, David,” the record company tweeted.
The band the Silver Jews was formed by Berman in 1989 with Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich. The band appreciated quite a while of recognition and released six albums together before Berman retired from music in 2009 after their 2008 album.
Living in Hoboken, Berman started music with his college friends Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich. After completing the college, he admitted at the University of Virginia and he began writing songs and formed the band Ectoslavia with future members Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich.
Berman was also a notable poet whose published work “Actual Air” in 1999, earned back-cover blurbs from poets James Tate and former U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins.
Berman was connected to the audience for his lyrics.
Berman and Silver Jews continued in fits and starts through 2008, releasing three well-received albums with a band that included his wife, Cassie Berman.
His latest album ‘Purple Mountains’ under the moniker released in July.
