ABC has decided to move on with the Roseanne show…without Roseanne.
A spin-off, tentatively titled ‘The Conners’ has been orderd by the television network. The show will focus on the characters played by John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and other characters.
In an announcement, the TV company said, “After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before.”
The move comes after Roseanne Barr posted racists tweets about former advisor to Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett. In her tweets, she likened Jarrett to the Planet of the Apes. This led to the reboot of the late 80’s hit being cancelled all together.
In order for the spin-off to happen, Barr had to relinquish any of the creative or financial holds she may have had on the show. Barr is said to have done so in order to save the jobs of the cast and crew members.
As of now, 10 episodes of ‘The Conners’ have been ordered.
