Lower back pain has taken a toll on many adults and is currently the most widespread and expensive condition worldwide. An estimated one-third of the UK adult population are affected by lower back pain each year and unfortunately most of it is unexplained.
Health professionals across the country think that it may be worsened by sitting at desks all day, for those that work in office. Students who may be carrying bags and some who generally have bad posture. Most importantly, lower back pain can be caused by environmental factors like stress.
The Kaia app has been developed by a leading digital therapy company Kaia Health with the assistance of physiotherapists, pain management physicians, orthopaedic surgeons and clinical psychologists. The app allows users to self-manage their non-specific back pain by customising treatments and tracking movements. It also can initiate how to help lessen stress, lack of sleep and bad moods.
Back pain is globally the number one reason for disability, and accounts for more than £31m lost work days, which is costing the UK economy £14bn yearly. This however could change – thanks to the new Al treatment app now available in the UK.
