First Lady Melania Trump was seen on Thursday wearing a very controversial jacket on her way to visit the children detention centers at the U.S. Mexico Border. While boarding Air Force One, the back of her olive green jacket was in full view, with the words, “I really don’t care. Do u?” written on the back.
Stephanie Grisham, the First Lady’s communications director said, “It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.”
But of course, the blatant message was hard not to focus on, as the words were scrawled in large white grafitti on the back of the jacket. It is difficult to imagine that a political figure such as the First Lady would be that out of touch, and so the question remains as to who the message was really for?
President Donald Trump seemed to contradict the statement made by Grisham, posting on his Twitter account, ” ‘I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?’ written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!”
The jacket, from Spanish company Zara, has garnered a varied response, leaving some praising the choice, some confused, and others outraged. Actress Patricia Arquette took to Twitter to write “Melania Trump just won worst dressed for the century.”
Though there has been lots of speculation and the tweet from President Trump, it is still unclear what Melania Trumps true motivations were behind the fashion choice.
