The founder and owner of Kylie cosmetics, Kylie Jenner, was published on the world’s billionaire list on Tuesday as the youngest self made billionaire according to the Forbes magazine, through her cosmetics company and social media advertisements.
The makeup retailer has accumulated an estimated fortune of $1 billion. Forbes estimates that the company’s total value is at least $900 million and Kylie is the sole owner of the wealth.
“I didn’t expect anything. I did not foresee the future, but feels really good. That’s a nice pat on the back” said Jenner in an interview.
Her three-year-old beauty business generated an estimated $360m in sales last year.
Kylie Cosmetics rolled $29 lip kits which included a matte liquid lipstick and matching lip liner into Ulta’s 1,000-plus stores after signing an exclusive distribution deal with Ulta. To greet customers, Jenner signed autographs on lip kits and posed for selfies when she showed up to the Richmond Avenue Ulta in Houston.
Jenner runs this cosmetics business with the help of her mother Kris.
Jenner followed Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, who won this title at age of 23.
Jenner became so famous for her signature lips that she inspired a “dangerous #KylieJennerLipChallenge.”
Crashing the website, her initial stock of $29 “lip kits” sold out in less than a minute.
