September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and gold ribbon is a symbol and is worn to commemorate the event.
Families, caregivers, charities and research groups across the United States observe September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
In the U.S., 15,780 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year; approximately 1/4 of them will not survive the disease. A diagnosis turns the lives of the entire family upside down.
This is an annual international awareness month to raise support, funding and awareness of childhood cancers and the impact for sufferers and families of sufferers of childhood cancer. Former US President Barack Obama has founded it in 2010 and is mainly run in the form of awareness events by cancer charities.
It’s very pathetic that the children or young people while they should focus on their education or play and socialising they have to remain busy with medication, operations, and what life they have left.
Some forms of cancer are mainly or exclusively only seen in children, and that is something highlighted by the awareness month. The objective of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is to put a spotlight on the types of cancer that largely affect children, survivorship issues, and – importantly – to help raise funds for research and family support.
