The 75th edition of the Golden Globe Awards swung into action on Sunday 7 January. The showcase was held in LA and was, as always, a wonderful celebrity-studded event full of glitz and glamour.
Held at The Beverly Hilton in California, the awards ceremony featured many TV and film stars amidst other celebs. Stars spotted at the prestigious celebration included Kit Harrington, Nicole Kidman and Jessica Biel.
The theme of the event was black dress, in alignment with the Time Up movement supporting victims of sexual assault/harassment and creating a sense of unity.
Many famous faces chose to participate; Mariah Carey opted for a black mermaid style dress whilst Angelina Jolie chose a sweeping number in the same colour. The men followed suit in neatly tailored suits; Chris Hemsworth looked very dapper in an all-black ensemble and Zac Efron also followed the theme with a black suit (complete with a sophisticated bow tie).
Aside from the fashion aspect of the proceedings, the Golden Globes continued to address the important issue of sexual harassment with a number of significant speeches about the scandals that have recently hit Hollywood.
Host Seth Meyers brought up the topic whilst introducing the event, and Oprah Winfrey further set the mood whilst collecting an honorary award with a concluding statement, suggesting a “a new day is on the horizon”.
There was plenty to celebrate when the awards got under way, with many well deserving stars winning recognition for their works. See below for the list of winners.
