Growing up as a woman isn’t easy but the learning curve shapes us into mature human beings with resilience, insight and life experience. Don’t shy away from womanhood – embrace it!
Appreciate Your Rights
With this year marking the centenary of women’s right to vote, there is no better time to realise your rights as an independent woman with your own opinions and values. Utilise your stance by getting involved in political debate and concentrate your energy into making the world a better place any way you can.
Enjoy Sexual Freedom
In this day and age we have a choice when it comes to sex. There are several birth control options out there, meaning we can be flexible in our approach and source the best solution for us. Contraception and sexual health services have never been so easy to obtain – we need to value this freedom.
Check Yourself
As a woman you owe it to yourself to look after your body. If you are 25 or over you must arrange an appointment and undergo a smear test; cervical screenings may be uncomfortable and embarrassing but are absolutely necessary. You should also regularly check your breasts for lumps – stay aware by copping a feel when showering.
Realise Your Strengths
Women are incredible – we can give birth, endure periods, multi-task…there are so many facets to being a female that we must choose to celebrate our strengths as opposed to worrying about the trivial things in life. We are stronger than we may think, so we must stay empowered and not underestimate our ability.
Acknowledge Your Beauty
Regardless of your shape, size or ethnicity, you are beautiful. It is as simple as that. Women take on all forms and it is important for us to embrace our natural selves – experiment with fashion and make-up as you like but remember to appreciate your looks even when in your barest state.
