While we’ve all been living with uncertainty over the past few months, it’s important now more than ever to enjoy the little things. Here, Tara Pilkington highlights five small ways to improve your life and help you can appreciate right now!
- Making your bed every morning after you wake up. It’s true what they say, that a tidy space can equal a tidy mind. By just clearing up your living space you’ll be surprised at how much your mood can change! Small things like making your bed are small acts of kindness which show you how much you respect your own space.
- Drink water first, before coffee or tea! While we all love to start our day with a cup of tea or coffee, don’t forget how important it is to drink water too. By drinking a glass in the morning you’ll be able to start the day fresh and hydrated.
- Pray or meditate for 10 minutes at the start of your day. By setting the tone for your day with meditation or prayer, you’ll help keep your mind balanced and set the tone for a positive day ahead.
- Limit your screen time before bed. We’re all guilty of staring at our phone for hours, sometimes even while we’re in bed! So try to limit your screen time and instead use this time to practise mindfulness, whether this is reading a book, listening to music or indulging in your skincare routine.
- Forgive yourself for making mistakes. We’re not all perfect and sometimes we make mistakes. Don’t dwell on things that you can’t change, and instead try to learn from your choices and use this knowledge to move forward with a new perspective.
