Flowers are a celebration of new life and new beginnings. They often speak of the unspoken, exchanged as symbols of hope, love and courage. During the coronavirus pandemic, Abhishek Poddar, Founder and Trustee of Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) in India, has started his new art project with flowers to remember the crisis names ‘The Bouquet of Hope’. Dipto Paul Reports.
Here is what you need to know 5 about this art project:
1. The whole artwork will be a symbol of fellowship. It will be an online, virtual collection of flower photos and artworks. Flowers can be all kinds, rendered in many styles — from fine art paintings, to pictures of floral trinkets, to photos of people’s backyard gardens.
2. MAP hopes to create the world’s largest digital bouquet of flowers by this art project. But the actual idea was to recall a story that Abhishek Poddar wants to share with friends and patrons of MAP in a limited version.
3. Avishek tries to recall the idea from 1889 on his parents’ 25th wedding anniversary where he and his sister requested 25 of India’s well-known artists to create a single flower, one for each year of his parents’ marriage.
4. People over the world can submit their photos through online visiting www.bouquetofhope.in/. As the whole world is in similar situation, the authority decided to make the final artwork available to everybody.
5. So far, around 5000 people have sent in photos of flowers from across the world, including Australia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Japan, Singapore, and Africa.
